Aaron Dessner joined Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff during their live performance of “august” at the 2021 Grammys.
Swift’s performance formed a three-song Folklore sequence: “cardigan,” “august,” and “willow.” Dessner and Antonoff, both major producers on Folklore, accompanied Swift as she performed the songs in a cottage-themed setting.
The appearance was notable because it brought together the three performers associated with Folklore’s collaborative sound. Swift began with “cardigan,” performed “august” inside the cottage, and then moved outside for “willow.” It was the first time Swift, Antonoff, and Dessner performed together.
Joe Alwyn was also credited as a producer on “august,” which can cause confusion about the live lineup. Alwyn did not join Swift and Antonoff for this Grammy performance. Dessner was the additional producer onstage.
