Joe Alwyn received co-production credit on Taylor Swift’s “august.”
The official credits list Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Alwyn as producers. Alwyn used the pseudonym William Bowery for some of his other Folklore and Evermore contributions, but “august” is credited directly to Joe Alwyn in the song’s production information.
Alwyn’s role is easy to miss because Antonoff is more publicly associated with the track’s instrumental and songwriting process. Antonoff created the initial instrumental, while Swift wrote the lyrics. The final production credit recognizes the collaborative studio work behind the completed recording.
Alwyn also contributed to other Folklore songs, including “betty” and “exile,” under the William Bowery name. However, those credits should not be used to replace the specific production credit attached to “august.”
