Which prize did Wes Anderson win for directing Isle of Dogs at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival?

Wes Anderson won the Silver Bear for Best Director for Isle of Dogs at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival.

Isle of Dogs is a stop-motion film set in a fictional future Japan where dogs have been exiled to Trash Island. Anderson’s directing award recognized the film at its world premiere in Berlin, where it opened the festival in February 2018.

The Golden Bear is Berlin’s top competition prize for a film, so it is not the correct answer here. The Silver Bear for Best Director is a separate award honoring the filmmaker’s direction. Anderson’s prize was one of the film’s major festival honors before its international theatrical release.

The film later received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. Its voice cast includes Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, and Jeff Goldblum.
