Which privacy-focused Firefox fork removes Mozilla telemetry?

The story behind the answer

LibreWolf is the privacy-focused Firefox fork that removes Mozilla telemetry. It is a free, open-source browser based on Firefox, created to provide stronger privacy and security defaults than standard Firefox.

The project began with Linux desktop releases in March 2020, followed by community-maintained Windows and macOS versions in 2021. Its privacy-oriented configuration excludes telemetry, sponsored shortcuts, and automatic updating, while also disabling or changing selected Firefox features. Firefox Sync is disabled by default, although users can turn it on.

LibreWolf is not a separate browser engine: it still uses Mozilla’s Gecko technology and remains closely tied to Firefox source releases. That distinguishes it from browsers such as Pale Moon, which maintains a different historical code direction, and Waterfox, whose original identity centered on 64-bit Firefox builds. LibreWolf can improve privacy, but its stricter defaults may reduce compatibility with some websites.
