Which presenter hosted the first series of the BBC business programme Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Adrian Chiles hosted the first series of the BBC business programme Dragon's Den.

Chiles presented the opening series when the British version launched in 2005. His role was to introduce the entrepreneurs, provide context around their businesses and guide viewers through the tense negotiations with the Dragons.

He was later replaced as the programme's main presenter by Evan Davis, who became strongly associated with the series. Because Davis hosted many later episodes, viewers sometimes mistakenly identify him as the original presenter.

Chiles is a British television and radio presenter whose work has included business, news and sport. His early involvement placed Dragon's Den within the BBC's factual-entertainment schedule before the format became one of the UK's best-known business shows.
