In Pokémon Pokopia, the player character is Ditto, which transforms into a human. This unusual premise lets the game place a Pokémon at the center of a life-simulation adventure rather than a traditional monster-catching journey.
Ditto is especially suitable for the role because its defining ability is transformation. In the main Pokémon games, Ditto can transform into another Pokémon, usually by copying its appearance and moves. Pokopia develops that idea further by showing Ditto adopting a human form while it explores, gathers resources, builds structures, and helps other Pokémon.
The character is still Ditto, not a human trainer who merely travels with one. That distinction is easy to miss because the transformed avatar looks human on screen. The game’s story and mechanics both use Ditto’s identity as the explanation for learning abilities from Pokémon and interacting with the world in unusual ways.
