Jack Hinshelwood scored twice in 79 seconds during Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4–0 opening-weekend win over Aston Villa.
The young Brighton midfielder produced a remarkable burst of scoring as his team raced four goals ahead within the first 31 minutes. His two goals came only 79 seconds apart, making him the standout individual performer in a one-sided match.
Brighton’s other goals came from Maxim De Cuyper and an own goal by Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelöf. Villa were also reduced to ten players when João Gomes was sent off shortly before half-time.
The victory was one of the largest results of the opening weekend, although it did not equal Chelsea’s 6–0 Matchweek 1 win over West Bromwich Albion in 2010. Brighton nevertheless became only the fourth team to score four first-half goals in a Premier League opening round.
