Which player scored the fastest goal in UEFA Champions League history?
Answer
Roy Makaay
Answer
Roy Makaay
Roy Makaay scored the fastest goal in UEFA Champions League history, finding the net after 10.12 seconds for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid on 7 March 2007.
The goal came in the second leg of the 2006–07 round of 16. Real Madrid had won the first leg 3–2, but their second-leg start went disastrously wrong: defender Roberto Carlos failed to control an early back-pass, Hasan Salihamidžić won the ball, and Makaay immediately finished past goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
Bayern won the match 2–1 and advanced on away goals after a 4–4 aggregate draw. Makaay’s strike is often called the “Ballermann” goal because of how quickly it transformed the tie. The record concerns the entire Champions League competition; separate records exist for the fastest goal in a final, group stage, second half, or by a substitute.
