Qinwen Zheng was the only qualifier to reach the 2026 US Open women’s singles quarterfinals.
Sixteen qualifiers entered the men’s and women’s singles main draws, excluding lucky losers. Zheng went furthest among them, advancing all the way to the quarterfinal stage.
A qualifier must win matches in the tournament’s qualifying competition before entering the main draw. Reaching the quarterfinals then requires winning four main-draw matches, making Zheng’s run especially notable.
Her progress stood out in a women’s draw that also featured the top four seeds in the semifinals. Those seeds were Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff.
