Which player has won the most French Open men's singles titles?
Answer
Rafael Nadal
Answer
Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal has won the most French Open men's singles titles, with 14 championships.
Nadal won his first Roland-Garros title in 2005, defeating Mariano Puerta in the final at age 19. He built his record through several remarkable runs: four consecutive titles from 2005 to 2008, five in a row from 2010 to 2014, and another four straight from 2017 to 2020. His 14th and final French Open title came in 2022.
Nadal's dominance is closely tied to his extraordinary clay-court game. His heavy topspin, movement, endurance and ability to defend from deep behind the baseline made him exceptionally difficult to beat on the surface. He finished with a 112–4 match record at the tournament and never lost a French Open final.
Björn Borg is second among Open Era men's champions with six titles. Earlier French Championships records are sometimes listed separately, but no man comes close to Nadal's official total.
