Scarlett became the first woman to win a StarCraft II World Championship Series event.
Canadian player Sasha Hostyn, known as Scarlett, won the 2016 Intel Extreme Masters PyeongChang tournament. She defeated South Korean player sOs in the final, earning recognition as the first woman to win a major StarCraft II tournament of that level.
Scarlett played the Zerg race and became known internationally for competing successfully in a scene historically dominated by South Korean men. Her 2018 victory over a Korean professional at IEM PyeongChang was a separate later milestone, and it is often mistakenly treated as her first major title. The WCS event distinction refers to her 2016 win.
