The Saturn automobile brand emblem depicts the planet Saturn.
Saturn Corporation used a red-and-white emblem showing a stylized planet with a prominent ring. The badge matched the company’s name and gave the new General Motors marque a distinctive identity. Saturn’s cars were sold in the United States from the early 1990s, and the ringed-planet design appeared on their exterior badges, advertising, and dealer signage.
The emblem’s planet is not a generic circle or a representation of Earth. The ring is the decisive visual clue, echoing Saturn’s famous astronomical appearance. The logo was designed to make the brand name immediately legible as a space-themed identity while remaining simple enough for a vehicle badge.
Saturn Corporation began production with the Saturn S-Series in 1990. The marque later expanded its range, but General Motors discontinued the brand after the 2009 financial crisis and completed its wind-down in 2010. The astronomical emblem therefore belongs to a discontinued car brand.
