Which Pixar short-film series features Mater telling exaggerated stories in Cars-related adventures?

Mater’s Tall Tales is the Pixar short-film series featuring Mater’s exaggerated Cars-related adventures.

The series is part of the Cars Toons brand and centers on Mater, Lightning McQueen’s friendly tow truck companion. In each short, Mater tells a spectacular story about something he supposedly did, often placing himself in an unlikely role such as a firefighter, stunt performer, or secret agent.

Lightning usually appears as a participant or listener, and the stories often end with a joke suggesting that Mater’s claims may not be entirely fictional. This storytelling device lets the shorts explore imaginative versions of the Cars world without changing the continuity of the theatrical films.

The first Mater’s Tall Tales shorts premiered in 2008. The series helped extend the franchise between feature films and was released through television, home video, and other Disney distribution channels.
