Cars 2 introduced the character Finn McMissile.
Finn is a British spy car voiced by Michael Caine. He investigates a conspiracy connected with the World Grand Prix and initially believes Mater may be an undercover agent. Finn's equipment, elegant design, and espionage role shift Cars 2 toward an international spy-adventure format.
Cars 2 expands the world beyond Radiator Springs by sending Lightning McQueen and Mater through Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. Finn serves as one of the film's main links to that larger international plot. His partner is Holley Shiftwell, a British intelligence agent who works with him during the mission.
Finn did not appear in the first Cars, which focused on Lightning's forced stay in Radiator Springs, and he is not the high-tech rival introduced in Cars 3. That rival is Jackson Storm. Finn McMissile is therefore specifically associated with the espionage storyline of Cars 2.
