Cars 2 features Francesco Bernoulli as Lightning McQueen's rival.
Francesco Bernoulli is an Italian Formula One-style race car voiced by John Turturro. He is presented as a highly confident international champion and one of the most formidable competitors in the World Grand Prix. His rivalry with Lightning McQueen supplies much of the racing conflict in the film.
Cars 2 expands the series beyond Radiator Springs. Lightning enters the World Grand Prix, while Mater becomes involved in an international espionage story after being mistaken for a secret agent. Francesco's design and identity reflect European open-wheel racing, contrasting with McQueen's stock-car background.
The character appears in Cars 2 rather than the first Cars film or Cars 3. Cars 2 was released in 2011 and was directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis. Michael Caine voices spy car Finn McMissile, and Emily Mortimer voices Holley Shiftwell, making the sequel a combination of racing adventure and spy-film parody.
