Which Pixar character does John Goodman voice in Monsters, Inc.?

John Goodman voices James P. Sullivan, commonly called Sulley, in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.

Sulley is the film’s large blue protagonist and one of Monsters, Incorporated’s leading scarers. Goodman’s performance gives him a warm, confident voice that contrasts with Sulley’s imposing appearance and professional reputation. Sulley begins the story as a celebrated employee but changes after encountering Boo.

The character’s full name is James P. Sullivan, although nearly everyone in the film uses “Sulley.” His close friend and work partner is Mike Wazowski, voiced by Billy Crystal. Their relationship drives much of the comedy and emotional development in the story.

John Goodman’s role is sometimes mixed up with Billy Crystal’s because the two characters appear together throughout the film. Goodman voices Sulley, while Crystal voices the green, one-eyed Mike.
