Cars 2 features Francesco Bernoulli as Lightning McQueen’s main racing rival.
Francesco Bernoulli is an Italian Formula-style race car who competes against McQueen in the World Grand Prix. He is confident, theatrical, and highly competitive, giving the film a rivalry that differs from the stock-car conflict in the first Cars movie.
Cars 2 was released in 2011 and expands the franchise from American stock-car racing to an international competition. The World Grand Prix visits Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. Alongside the races, the film follows Mater after he becomes entangled in an international espionage plot involving Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell.
Francesco is voiced by John Turturro in the English-language version. The character should not be confused with Jackson Storm, who is McQueen’s principal rival in Cars 3, or Chick Hicks, the aggressive competitor from the original film.
