Cars won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film.
At the 64th Golden Globe Awards, honoring films released in 2006, Cars received the award for Best Animated Feature Film. It was the first film to win that category, because the Golden Globes introduced the award for the 2006 ceremony. The result gave Pixar's racing comedy a notable place in awards history.
The victory came during a strong period for animated feature recognition. Cars also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, although it did not win that Oscar. The Golden Globe win is therefore a separate achievement and should not be confused with the film's Oscar result.
Cars 2 and Cars 3 were later entries in the franchise, but neither replaced the original film as the first Golden Globe winner in this category. The exact title is usually written as Best Animated Feature Film, making Cars the short and unambiguous answer.
