Cars 2 was the first Pixar Cars film to feature Francesco Bernoulli.
Francesco Bernoulli is an Italian Formula-style racer and Lightning McQueen’s major racing rival in Cars 2. He is introduced as a celebrated international competitor during the World Grand Prix and is known for his confidence, speed, and theatrical personality.
John Turturro voices Francesco. His rivalry with McQueen is part of the film’s racing plot, which moves through Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. The character’s design draws on the look and visual language of open-wheel racing cars.
Cars 2 premiered in 2011, five years after the original Cars. It expanded the franchise beyond Radiator Springs by introducing racers and settings from around the world, while Mater became central to the film’s spy-thriller storyline.
