Which Pixar Cars character is an Italian Formula-style racer and Lightning McQueen’s rival in Cars 2?

Francesco Bernoulli is the Italian Formula-style racer who rivals Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Bernoulli is introduced as a celebrated international racer and one of the principal competitors in the World Grand Prix. He is designed with the visual language of an open-wheel racing car and presents himself as McQueen’s equal or superior. Their rivalry adds a competitive thread to a film that also follows Mater and the spy characters.

The character is voiced by John Turturro in the English version. Bernoulli’s confidence and showmanship contrast with McQueen’s more experienced but increasingly pressured position in the racing world. His name and Italian identity are part of Cars 2’s international setting.

Cars 2 includes several other World Grand Prix competitors, including German racer Max Schnell and French rally racer Raoul ÇaRoule. Lewis Hamilton also appears as a character, but he is a different racer and not McQueen’s main rival in the film.
