Which Paris park contained the Croix-Catelan venue used by the French Championships?

The Croix-Catelan venue used by the French Championships was in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne.

The site belonged to the Racing Club de France, founded in 1882 and renamed in 1885. Its sports grounds developed at Croix-Catelan, near the Pré-Catelan garden, and included tennis courts as well as athletics facilities. Early French Championships were held at several Paris-area venues rather than at one permanent stadium.

Croix-Catelan hosted tournament editions and events from the 1890s through the 1920s. Its courts were initially grass, but maintenance difficulties eventually led to their conversion to clay. In 1926, after the championships opened to international competitors, the tournament returned to the Croix-Catelan courts.

A common mix-up is Roland-Garros: the modern tournament moved there in 1928, after the French Championships had used venues including Puteaux, the Tennis Club de Paris, Bordeaux, and Croix-Catelan. Bois de Vincennes is another Paris park, but it was not the park containing this historic venue.
