Which original AC/DC band member died in 1980?

The story behind the answer

Bon Scott was the original AC/DC band member who died in 1980. Born Ronald Belford Scott, he became the Australian rock band's lead vocalist in 1974 and helped define its early sound with his gritty voice, energetic stage presence, and provocative songwriting.

Scott's final AC/DC studio album was Highway to Hell, released in 1979. The record became the band's commercial breakthrough, but Scott died in London on February 19, 1980, at age 33. The coroner officially recorded acute alcohol poisoning and death by misadventure.

AC/DC considered breaking up after his death, but instead recruited Brian Johnson. The band recorded Back in Black, released in July 1980, as a tribute to Scott. It became one of the best-selling albums ever made. A common mix-up is confusing Scott with founding guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017, or assuming Scott sang on Back in Black; Johnson was the vocalist on that album.
