Alliance won The International 2013, Dota 2’s third annual world championship. The tournament was held at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall and featured the strongest teams from the early professional Dota 2 scene.
Alliance defeated Natus Vincere 3–0 in the grand final, becoming the first team to win a best-of-five International final without dropping a game. The Swedish lineup was widely praised for its coordinated strategy, flexible drafting, and highly effective use of split-pushing tactics.
The 2013 tournament was also notable for its rapidly growing prize pool. Valve’s Compendium system allowed players to contribute through in-game purchases, helping raise the total prize money above $2.8 million.
Alliance’s victory followed Natus Vincere’s appearances in the first three International finals. The result therefore ended Na’Vi’s early dominance and gave Europe its second championship after the organization’s 2011 title.
