OG became the first two-time winner of Dota 2’s The International in 2019.
The International 2019 was held in Shanghai, China, from August 15–25. OG defeated Team Liquid 3–1 in the grand final, becoming the first organization to win The International twice. OG had previously won the 2018 edition.
The achievement was notable because OG retained the core of its championship roster, including Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen. The team’s back-to-back victories established one of the most distinctive dynasties in Dota 2 competition.
This record is different from the number of championships won by an individual player or the number of finals reached by a team. OG’s distinction specifically concerns two International grand-final victories, in consecutive years.
