Which of Queen Victoria's daughters was the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II?

Victoria, Princess Royal was the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II. Born in 1840, she was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s eldest child and became Princess Royal in 1841.

In 1858, she married Prince Frederick of Prussia, the future German emperor Frederick III. Their first child, Wilhelm, was born in 1859 and became Germany’s last emperor when he succeeded his father in 1888.

Victoria was therefore both Queen Victoria’s daughter and Wilhelm II’s mother. She is sometimes confused with her mother because both were named Victoria, but the daughter is usually distinguished as Victoria, Princess Royal, or later Empress Frederick.

The birth of Wilhelm was difficult: he was born breech and suffered an injury to his left arm. Victoria’s liberal British outlook also placed her at odds with conservative forces at the Prussian court, especially Otto von Bismarck.
