Which NHL player scored the winning goal in the 1970 Stanley Cup Final overtime?

The story behind the answer

Bobby Orr scored the winning goal in overtime of the 1970 Stanley Cup Final.

Orr scored at 40 seconds of overtime in Game 4, giving the Boston Bruins a 4–3 victory over the St. Louis Blues and completing a four-game sweep. The goal won Boston its first Stanley Cup since 1941.

The famous photograph of Orr flying through the air after being tripped by Blues defenseman Noel Picard became one of hockey’s most recognizable images. Orr also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, making him the first defenseman to receive that honor.

The 1970 championship was a landmark moment for Boston, which had waited 29 years for another title. The Bruins’ victory also ended the Blues’ first three consecutive appearances in the Stanley Cup Final.
