Which NHL player played a record 964 consecutive regular-season games?
Answer
Doug Jarvis
Answer
Doug Jarvis
Doug Jarvis played a record 964 consecutive regular-season NHL games.
Jarvis’s streak began with his debut for the Montreal Canadiens on October 8, 1975, and continued through his final NHL game on October 10, 1987. He played for Montreal, the Washington Capitals, the Hartford Whalers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins without missing a regular-season game during the sequence.
The record is commonly called the NHL’s ironman streak. It measures consecutive regular-season appearances, not playoff games. Phil Kessel later became the closest modern challenger, but Jarvis’s total remained the benchmark for many years. Jarvis also won four Stanley Cups with Montreal in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
