Which New York skyscraper did Georgia O'Keeffe paint in 1927?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe painted New York's Radiator Building in 1927.

Her painting, commonly titled Radiator Building—Night, New York, presents the skyscraper as a dark, geometric structure illuminated by red and yellow light. The building was designed by Raymond Hood and André Fouilhoux and opened in 1924 as the American Radiator Building. Its black facade and glowing ornament made it a memorable symbol of modern Manhattan.

The work belongs to O'Keeffe's important group of New York paintings. She lived in the city for periods during her marriage to Alfred Stieglitz and often painted architecture from a sharply modern viewpoint. The subject is sometimes confused with the Chrysler Building, another famous New York skyscraper, but O'Keeffe's 1927 painting specifically depicts the Radiator Building.
