Which New York City Subway station has the name of a major rail terminal and is served by the 7 train?
Answer
Grand Central–42nd Street
Answer
Grand Central–42nd Street
Grand Central–42nd Street is the New York City Subway station served by the 7 train at Grand Central Terminal.
The complex is in Midtown Manhattan beneath and beside Grand Central Terminal. It serves the 4, 5, 6, and 7 trains, as well as the 42nd Street Shuttle. The 7 train uses the Flushing Line, while the 4, 5, and 6 use the Lexington Avenue Line.
The subway station opened in 1904 with the original IRT system. Grand Central Terminal itself opened in 1913, so the subway station predates the current rail terminal by several years.
Travelers often shorten the name to Grand Central, but the official subway station name includes 42nd Street. It is also distinct from Times Square–42nd Street, another major subway complex connected to it by the shuttle platform and passageways.
