The A train is the New York City Subway service that reaches Inwood–207th Street in northern Manhattan.
The A is a blue-letter service of the IND Division. Its route runs between Inwood–207th Street and Far Rockaway–Mott Avenue, with some trips ending at Ozone Park–Lefferts Boulevard. It uses the Eighth Avenue Line in Manhattan and the Fulton Street Line in Brooklyn and Queens.
Inwood–207th Street is the A’s northern terminal and is located in the Inwood neighborhood near the northern end of Manhattan Island. The service therefore crosses a large part of the city rather than operating only within one borough.
The C train shares much of the A’s Manhattan and Brooklyn alignment but has a shorter route. The E also uses Eighth Avenue, yet its northern terminal is Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer rather than Inwood.
