The E train terminates at World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.
World Trade Center is the southern terminal of the E service on the IND Eighth Avenue Line. The station is beneath the World Trade Center complex and is connected to the large World Trade Center transportation hub, including PATH trains and several subway stations through the broader complex.
The station originally opened in 1933 as part of the IND’s first Manhattan route. It was known as Hudson Terminal before the original World Trade Center was built nearby. After the September 11 attacks, the station was damaged and temporarily closed; service later resumed after reconstruction.
The A and C trains use the same Eighth Avenue corridor but continue south through Brooklyn rather than terminating at World Trade Center. This makes the E the specific service associated with the terminal platform at the southern end of the line.
