The L train has its eastern terminal at Canarsie–Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn.
Canarsie–Rockaway Parkway is the last stop on the BMT Canarsie Line, which runs between eastern Brooklyn and Manhattan. The L train travels west from Canarsie through neighborhoods including East Williamsburg and Bushwick before crossing into Manhattan and ending at Eighth Avenue.
The station opened in 1928 as part of the city-owned Independent Subway System’s extension of the Canarsie Line. It is located beside a bus terminal, making it a major transfer point for surface routes serving southeastern Brooklyn. The terminal also has a distinctive center platform arrangement that allows passengers to leave trains efficiently.
The L route is sometimes confused with the similarly lettered J and M services, which also operate in Brooklyn and Queens. However, Canarsie–Rockaway Parkway is exclusively associated with the L train and is the line’s eastern endpoint.
