Galatoire's is the New Orleans restaurant known for serving classic Creole cuisine since 1905.
Jean Galatoire founded the restaurant on Bourbon Street after moving from France to New Orleans. The restaurant became especially famous for its formal service, French-Creole menu, and long-standing Friday lunch tradition, when locals and visitors traditionally gathered for an extended meal.
Galatoire's menu reflects New Orleans cooking through dishes featuring seafood, rich sauces, oysters, shrimp, and other Gulf ingredients. The restaurant is often grouped with Antoine's and Arnaud's as one of the city’s historic Creole institutions. Galatoire's founding year, 1905, distinguishes it from Antoine's, which opened in 1840, and Arnaud's, founded in 1918.
