Which New Mexico village was one of Georgia O'Keeffe's main homes?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiú was one of Georgia O'Keeffe's main homes in New Mexico. She acquired and restored a historic adobe house there, which became an important residence and studio.

O'Keeffe first became familiar with the Abiquiú area during her years in New Mexico. The village and its surroundings provided subjects including adobe walls, distant mountains, and the famous patio door that she painted repeatedly as an abstracted geometric form.

Her Abiquiú house should not be confused with Ghost Ranch, another New Mexico location strongly linked with her life. Ghost Ranch lies farther north and was associated with her landscape paintings and a separate residence. Both places contributed to her artistic identity.

O'Keeffe's house in Abiquiú is now preserved as a historic property. Its architecture, courtyard, and views help explain why ordinary structural features became recurring motifs in her work. The site is administered through the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
