Which New Mexico village contained the adobe house Georgia O'Keeffe restored and made her home?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiú contained the adobe house Georgia O'Keeffe restored and made her home.

O'Keeffe discovered the abandoned adobe compound in Abiquiú and spent years working to acquire and restore it. She eventually obtained the property in 1945. The house, with its courtyard wall and distinctive black door, became one of the most recognizable places associated with her life and work.

She used the Abiquiú home as a base after spending time at Ghost Ranch. The architecture and surrounding landscape supplied subjects as important to her as flowers and bones. Her paintings of the courtyard door show how she could transform an ordinary architectural detail into a powerful, repeated visual motif.

Abiquiú is not the same as Santa Fe, where O'Keeffe died and where her museum opened, nor is it identical to Ghost Ranch, her other major New Mexico retreat. The village and house are preserved as a historic site connected to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
