Which New Mexico town contains the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum?

The story behind the answer

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The museum opened in 1997, eleven years after O'Keeffe's death, and is dedicated to her life, art, and continuing influence.

Santa Fe was an important center in O'Keeffe's later life. She lived and worked in northern New Mexico for many years, and the region's landscapes, architecture, plants, and objects became defining subjects in her art.

The museum's collection and programs place O'Keeffe within the broader history of American modernism while also explaining her relationship with New Mexico. It is not the same as the artist's former homes and studios at Abiquiú and Ghost Ranch, which are separate historic sites.

Taos is another famous New Mexico art destination, but it is not the location of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. Santa Fe is the state capital and one of the country's oldest continuously inhabited state capitals.
