Georgia O'Keeffe's adobe home and studio was in Abiquiú, New Mexico. She bought the neglected adobe house in 1945 and spent years restoring it, later using it as both a residence and a working studio.
The property became a major source of images in her art. O'Keeffe repeatedly painted its courtyard door, walls, and surrounding landscape, transforming familiar architectural details into concentrated studies of shape, light, and space.
Abiquiú is distinct from Santa Fe, where O'Keeffe also lived and where the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is located. The house and studio are preserved as a National Trust for Historic Preservation site and are open for guided visits by reservation.
