Which New Mexico settlement became one of Georgia O'Keeffe's main homes?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiú became one of Georgia O'Keeffe's main homes in New Mexico. She acquired a house there in 1945 and made it an important base for her later life and work.

The property is known as the Abiquiú Home and Studio. O'Keeffe was drawn to the surrounding high-desert landscape, including cliffs, distant mesas, and the distinctive doorway in her own house that she painted repeatedly.

She also lived and worked at Ghost Ranch, north of Abiquiú. The two locations supplied different visual experiences: Ghost Ranch offered dramatic open scenery, while the Abiquiú house provided a more intimate architectural subject.

O'Keeffe's New Mexico years helped define her public image, but the region was not simply a backdrop. Its bones, mountains, adobe buildings, and intense light became recurring subjects in her modernist interpretations.
