Which New Mexico location was one of Georgia O'Keeffe's homes and artistic retreats?

The story behind the answer

Ghost Ranch was one of Georgia O'Keeffe's New Mexico homes and artistic retreats.

O'Keeffe began visiting Ghost Ranch in the 1930s and rented a house there for many years. The ranch lies near Abiquiú in northern New Mexico, amid dramatic cliffs and broad desert views that appear repeatedly in her paintings.

She later acquired a house in nearby Abiquiú, but Ghost Ranch remained an important source of inspiration. Its red and yellow formations, expansive skies, and isolated terrain gave her a landscape unlike the urban environment of her earlier New York work.

Ghost Ranch is not the same place as the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. The museum is an institution, while Ghost Ranch is a landscape and historic site associated with her working life.
