Answer
San Francisco de Asis Mission Church
San Francisco de Asis Mission Church became the subject of Georgia O'Keeffe's 1930 painting Ranchos Church.
The church stands in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, and is formally known as the San Francisco de Asis Mission Church. O'Keeffe painted its massive adobe form several times after her first visit to New Mexico in 1929. Her 1930 work Ranchos Church presents the building in a simplified, cropped composition rather than as a conventional architectural view.
The church was built between 1772 and 1816, making it one of the important surviving Spanish Colonial mission churches in New Mexico. Its rounded adobe buttresses and sculptural exterior attracted many artists and photographers, including Paul Strand and Ansel Adams.
The building is sometimes called simply the Ranchos de Taos church, while St. Francis Cathedral is a different building in nearby Santa Fe. The formal dedication to Saint Francis of Assisi supplies the canonical name needed to distinguish the landmark.
