Answer
Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio
Answer
Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio
The Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio in Abiquiú is now a museum. O'Keeffe acquired the abandoned adobe house in 1945 and spent years restoring it with architect and builder Juan Hamilton. She began living there regularly in 1949.
The property includes the house, studio, courtyard, and surrounding landscape that O'Keeffe painted many times. Features such as the courtyard door and the view toward the Pedernal mountain appear in works associated with her New Mexico period.
The home is preserved by the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and opened for public tours in 1998. It is distinct from Ghost Ranch, another important New Mexico place where O'Keeffe lived and worked, about 60 miles from Abiquiú.
