Which New Mexico community was home to Georgia O'Keeffe's famous adobe house?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiu was home to Georgia O'Keeffe's famous adobe house and studio.

O'Keeffe first saw the abandoned adobe compound in Abiquiu during the 1930s and was drawn to its wall, doorway, and surrounding landscape. She later acquired the property in 1945 after years of trying to obtain it.

The house was restored and adapted for her use, and she moved permanently to New Mexico in 1949. Its courtyard wall and black door appear in several paintings, including works based on a view O'Keeffe described as one she had to paint repeatedly.

The Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio is now preserved as a historic site. It should not be confused with Ghost Ranch, where O'Keeffe also lived and worked, or with Santa Fe, where the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum opened in 1997. Abiquiu is the specific village associated with her house and studio.
