Which New Mexico city became Georgia O'Keeffe's principal home after 1949?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiú became Georgia O'Keeffe's principal home after 1949.

O'Keeffe first visited New Mexico in 1929 and returned regularly for decades. In 1949, three years after Alfred Stieglitz died, she moved permanently from New York to New Mexico. She divided her time between Abiquiú and Ghost Ranch, both of which supplied subjects for her paintings.

Abiquiú is a small community north of Santa Fe. O'Keeffe's home there was a restored adobe compound with a distinctive door and courtyard. The house and its surrounding landscape became important parts of her working environment and later entered public preservation.

Santa Fe was the nearest major cultural center and is home to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, but it was not her principal residence. Taos also has a strong New Mexico art history, yet O'Keeffe is more specifically associated with Abiquiú and Ghost Ranch.
