Which New Mexico city became Georgia O'Keeffe's permanent home after 1984?

The story behind the answer

Santa Fe became Georgia O'Keeffe's permanent home after 1984.

In 1984, O'Keeffe moved from her Abiquiú home to Santa Fe, where she lived until her death in 1986. She had long been connected with northern New Mexico, but declining health made the city a more practical base.

O'Keeffe died in Santa Fe on March 6, 1986, at the age of 98. The city later became the location of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, which opened in 1997 and preserves a major collection of her work and personal materials.

Santa Fe is often confused with Abiquiú or Ghost Ranch when discussing O'Keeffe’s New Mexico years. Abiquiú and Ghost Ranch were important homes and working environments, while Santa Fe was her final residence.
