The Netflix film starring Sandra Bullock that is known for its blindfold challenge is 'Bird Box.' In the post-apocalyptic thriller, mysterious entities cause people who look at them to become violently suicidal, forcing survivors to travel while keeping their eyes covered.
Sandra Bullock plays Malorie Hayes, an artist who becomes responsible for protecting two children during the collapse of society. Much of the story follows their dangerous journey down a river, where sight is blocked and sound, memory, and trust become essential survival tools.
'Bird Box' was directed by Susanne Bier and adapted from Josh Malerman's 2014 novel of the same name. It became especially associated with online “Bird Box” challenges, in which people attempted ordinary tasks while blindfolded. Netflix and public-safety officials discouraged those stunts because they could cause injuries. 'The Blind Side' also stars Bullock, but it is a sports drama and has no supernatural blindfold premise.
