Independence Hall is the National Park Service site where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were adopted.
The building in Philadelphia served as the meeting place of the Second Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention. The Declaration of Independence was adopted there on July 4, 1776, and the Constitution was drafted and signed there in 1787.
The building was originally called the Pennsylvania State House. Its present name reflects its association with independence and the founding of the United States. The Assembly Room, where the debates occurred, remains the central historic interior.
Independence Hall is part of Independence National Historical Park. The nearby Liberty Bell is also protected within the park, but it is a separate object and should not be used as the answer to this question.
