Which national park in Argentina is home to Iguazu Falls?

The story behind the answer

Which national park in Argentina is home to Iguazu Falls? Iguazú National Park is the correct answer.

Created in 1934, Iguazú National Park protects the Argentine side of the falls in Misiones Province, within the subtropical Atlantic Forest. The park covers about 677 square kilometres and includes viewing routes around the dramatic cascades and the famous Devil’s Throat.

A common mix-up is Brazil’s Iguaçu National Park, which borders the Argentine park across the Iguazú River and protects the Brazilian side of the same waterfall system. Together, the two parks preserve the falls and surrounding rainforest; both were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984.

The name comes from Guaraní words often translated as “great water.” The park also shelters species including jaguars, tapirs, ocelots, giant anteaters and toucans.
