Aslan is the lion and central figure of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia series.
Aslan is portrayed as the creator and rightful ruler of Narnia. He guides, judges, protects, and sometimes sacrifices himself for the inhabitants of the world. His presence connects the separate novels, even when the main human characters change from one story to another.
Readers often describe Aslan as a symbolic Christ figure, especially because of his sacrificial death and resurrection in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lewis’s fiction uses Christian symbolism, but Aslan remains a character within the imaginative world of Narnia rather than a direct retelling of a biblical narrative.
