Which Narnia book by C.S. Lewis tells of Edmund and Lucy visiting a world through a painting?

The story behind the answer

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader tells of Edmund and Lucy visiting Narnia through a painting.

In the novel, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie are staying with their cousin Eustace Scrubb when a painting of a ship at sea comes to life. The three children are pulled into the picture and arrive in Narnia, where they join King Caspian aboard the ship Dawn Treader.

Caspian is searching for seven lords who were sent east during the reign of his uncle Miraz. The voyage takes the travelers through a series of islands, each linked to a different adventure and moral challenge. Eustace’s transformation into a dragon is one of the book’s best-known episodes.

The novel was published in 1952 as the third Narnia book released. In chronological reading order, it follows Prince Caspian and comes before The Silver Chair.
