Which Narnia book by C.S. Lewis features the Pevensie children entering a wardrobe?

The story behind the answer

The Pevensie children enter Narnia through a wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Published in 1950, it was the first Narnia book released to the public.

The story follows Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie after they are sent away from wartime London to stay in the countryside. Lucy discovers the passage into Narnia, a land trapped in winter by the White Witch. The children become involved in the struggle to restore Aslan and Narnia’s rightful order.

The book is often called the first Narnia novel, although many modern editions arrange the series in chronological story order and place The Magician’s Nephew first. Publication order begins with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The wardrobe itself was inspired partly by Lewis’s childhood fascination with an old wardrobe. The novel became one of the most widely read works of children’s fantasy in English.
